Prophet symphony will be performed at Fajr

TEHRAN, Dec. 24--Famed Iranian composer said that his symphony titled ’Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’ will be performed by Tehran Symphony Orchestra at the 22nd Fajr Music Festival slated for February 1-11.

Shahin Farhat told Fars that quality is the benchmark at Fajr Music Festival and Tehran Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nader Mashayekhi will also perform several pieces composed by Iranian composers.

’Falak Ol-Aflak’ by Kambiz Roshanravan is one of the pieces to be performed at the festival. Other pieces including those by Hooshang Kamkar, Mohammad Reza Darvishi, Majid Entezami and Arsalan Kamkar will also be featured at the festival, he added.

Commenting on the Prophet Symphony, Farhat noted that the symphony was composed on the occasion of the year of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as the current Iranian year to March has been designated, and on the order of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s (IRIB) Music Center.

“Prophet Symphony has four sections. The first deals with the personality and ideals of the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The second is about prayers while the third and fourth parts are about the victory of Islamic ideals,“ he added.

Referring to the choice of Ali Tafreshi as vocalist of the Prophet Symphony, Farhat pointed out that Mashayekhi himself chose Tafreshi for the job.

“I did not play any role in this. Of course, another version of the symphony without any vocalist will also be released soon,“ he added.

Prophet Symphony has also been translated into English, French and Italian.
