Ayatollah Khatami calls on UNSC, European countries not to discredit themselves along with Britain
Tehran’s interim Friday Prayer Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami, called on UN Security Council and European countries not to discredit themselves for the sake of Britain.
Referring to the recent stand of the British administration against Iran, Ayatollah Khatami said that the British government has been discredited among the Islamic nations and the Iranian people, and wants to somehow share the costs of this disrepute with other European countries and international organizations.
According to IRIB World Service, Tehran’s interim Friday Prayer leader said that the British have been discredited worldwide, while pointing out that the Iranian nation has defeated the British government on several occasions, one of which is the recent ratification of Iran’s Majlis, which urged a downgrade in Iran’s relations with Britain.
Ayatollah Khatami further advised the European countries not to tie their destiny with the fate of Britain.
He underscored that throughout the Qajarid era, Britain, through conclusion of disgraceful deals such as Reuters contract intended to colonize Iran. However, thanks to vigilance of prominent Ulema of that era such as Haj Muhammad Ali Kani and Mirzayeh Shirazi, the British failed to fulfill their ominous plots.
Tehran’s interim Friday Prayer leader also referred to the Student Day on December 7, and noted that this day is the symbol of struggle of the students against Global Arrogance, including the US and Britain. He emphasized that the martyrdom of a number of students on December 1953, is a source of honor for the committed Iranian students.
Tehran’s interim Friday Prayer leader also referred to the arrival of the mourning ceremonies, marking the martyrdom anniversary of the Third Infallible Imam of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (blessings of God be upon him and his progeny) Household, Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his 72 loyal disciples, while forwarding his condolences on the verge of Ashura.
