Israelis to stage huge protest rallies
Israeli demonstrators are gearing up for mass rallies across Israel to protest the deep social injustice brought about by the economic policies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The rallies are to be held across 50 cities and towns in the occupied Palestinian territories on Saturday, with the largest demonstration to be held in Tel Aviv.
Organizers have vowed not to stop their struggle until their demands are met, Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials have decided to shut down train services to Tel Aviv ahead of the march in an attempt to block thousands of protesters from reaching their destinations for the rallies.
Organizers of the rally have vehemently denounced the decision to shut down the train services.
Anti-regime protests erupted in Israel in mid-July as activists began setting up tents in Tel Aviv to protest against Netanyahu’s economic and social policies.
Thousands of Israelis staged protest marches in the city of East al-Quds (Jerusalem) last Saturday, with similar anti-regime demonstrations held in other cities.
The demonstrators are also opposed to Israel’s illegal settlement expansions in the occupied Palestinian territories and call for the resignation of Netanyahu.
