Iranian weightlifter 3rd at worlds
Iranian weightlifter Jaber Behrouzi has stood third at the World Junior Weightlifting Championships which is currently underway in Malaysia.
Behrouzi won the gold medal in the clean and jerk, but finished fifth in the snatch category, and took the bronze medal of the men’s 69kg in total at the Penang International Sports Arena on Saturday, Mehr News Agency reported.
The Iranian weightlifter hoisted 134kg in the snatch and 169kg in the clean and jerk category for a total of 303kg.
Albanian weightlifter Daniel Godelli lifted 140kg in the snatch and 169kg in the clean and jerk to win gold with an overall of 309kg.
Peiyong Huang from China won silver with 140kg in the snatch, 168kg in the clean and jerk, and an overall of 308kg.
Earlier on Thursday, Iranian weightlifter Majid Asgari claimed the silver medal in the men’s 56kg class of the event.
More than 300 weightlifters from 76 countries are taking part in the 37th Men and 17th Women World Junior Weightlifting Championships in the city of Penang in Malaysia.
