World artists express solidarity in “Hope for Japan” poster exhibit
Tehran’s Imam Ali (AS) Religious Arts Museum has organized a poster exhibit to express solidarity with the victims of the recent earthquake in Japan.
Artists from different countries were invited to take part in the exhibit arranged by Iranian Yazadan Sadi, the Public Relations Office of the museum reported on Sunday.
An assortment of 100 posters has been selected by Sadi over the past two months that will go on display in the exhibit opening on May 10.
A deadly 8.9-magnitude earthquake hit Japan on March 11. The powerful quake triggered a devastating tsunami along Japan’s eastern coast, killing hundreds of people and injuring thousands.
The earthquake caused the formation of 30-foot walls of water that swept across rice fields, engulfed entire towns, dragged houses onto highways, and tossed cars and boats like toys. Some waves reached six miles (10 kilometers) inland in Miyagi Prefecture on Japan's east coast.
Artists from the countries of Mexico, Turkey, Iran, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, South Korea, India, Russia and several others are collaborating in this project.
The exhibit will open in the presence of artists and officials from the Japanese Embassy and will run until May 25 at the museum located on Esfandiar Blvd., near the intersection with Vali-e Asr Ave. in northern Tehran.
