Shahdad Rohani to compose symphony for Persian Gulf

Prominent Iranian composer and conductor Shahdad Rohani has travelled to Bandar Abbas to sign a contract with the officials of the seaport in southern Iran to compose a symphony for the Persian Gulf.

“I have an incredible feeling about being in Bandar Abbas, beside the azure water of the Persian Gulf,” Rohani told the Persian service of ISNA on Friday.

He said that foreigners’ efforts in distortion of name of the Persian Gulf have provoked him into composing the symphony, which he believes will be ‘eternal’ in the history of Iranian music.

“Although I live in the U.S., I am always proud of being Iranian. I love every inch of my country and I am ready to do anything for introducing the glory of my homeland,” he stated.

Rohani conducted the Tehran Symphony Orchestra in concerts during the 26th Fajr International Music Festival in February.

The orchestra is scheduled to perform the Persian Gulf Poem Symphony, composed by Shahain Farhat, at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on May 1.
