Fajr festival adds two more to honoree list
This year, the Fajr film festival will be honoring diligent Iranian actor Jamshid Hashempur, famous for his roles in action movies, along with director Puran Derakhshandeh, whose films center on teens and children.
They will be joining veteran actor Mehdi Faqih and make-up artist Bijan Mohtasham in the ceremony honoring them for their lifetime achievement.
The 29th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival running from February 5 to 15 at Tehran’s Milad Tower will be dedicating part of its opening ceremony to the honoring program.
The 66-year old actor Hashempur got his start at age 24 with his debut in “White Hell” by Samuel Khachikian. He came to fame in “Plunder” (Iraj Qaderi) in which he appeared in the role of Zeinal Bandari with his shiny bald head.
“Mother”, “Hiva”, “Fifth Reaction”, “Paternal Garden”, “The Last Port” and “Poisonous Mushroom” are among his other noteworthy credits.
A graduate of filmmaking, Derakhshandeh shot to fame as director of “Little Bird of Happiness” featuring the problems of deaf children in the family and the society.
“Nocturnal Emissions”, “Candle in the Wind”, “A Love Without Frontier”, “Little Bird of Happiness”, “Lost Time”, “Eternal Kids” and “Passing Through the Dust” are Derakhshandeh’s other credits.
