Tehran short filmfest awards winners
The 27th edition of the Tehran International Short Film Festival has announced the best works of the event at the closing ceremony at Tehran’s Andisheh Hall.
Director Babak Nazari won the best animation award for Shekarestan, and the best documentary award went to Liko, directed by Mohammad-Ali Hashemzehi, the Mehr news agency reported.
The Birth of a Bullet directed by Karim Faeqian was awarded the best film prize of the festival.
Ehsan Ma’soum’s Lost Dream won the award for the best research work, and 12th Companion by Elaheh Solhjou was selected as the best screenplay.
Arash Qasemi (Dusk of Snail), Karim Nazari (My House Is Cloudy), and Ehsan Mohammad-Hassani (Oskou) also won awards at the event.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, Deputy Culture Minister for Cinematic Affairs Javad Shamaqdari, and a number of Iranian and foreign cineastes and jury members attended the closing ceremony of the film festival.
Hosseini delivered a short speech at the ceremony, saying the festival provides an opportunity to introduce Persian culture to foreign guests of the event.
Qazvin, Gilan, Khorasan Razavi, Yazd, and Khuzestan provinces jointly hosted the event.
About 3500 films from nearly 100 countries were screened during the filmfest.
With 411 submissions, France sent the most films for the international section of the festival, followed by Germany (213), Spain (188), Britain (182), and Brazil (169).
Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states also sent 43 productions, with Turkey providing the most submissions.
