Iranian puppet maker wins Arlyn Coad Award 2010
Mirza-Hosseini was awarded for designing and making puppets for the play “Arash” that was put on stage by the Derakht-e Sib Troupe, as the Persian service of ISNA reported on Tuesday.
She won the prize for creative design of puppets and usage of proper material for making them which helps in the mythical narration of play, ISNA added.
The prize was established in memory of Arlyn Coad by her husband and puppeteer partner Luman Coad. The Arlyn Award Society searches for “truly outstanding” design in Puppet Theater.
Sima and Fahimeh Mirza-Hosseini won the Best Director Award for “Arash” at the 12th Mobarak International Puppet Theater Festival in 2008. She brought Arlyn Coad Award home to Iran for the first time.
The Arlyn Award and the prize endowment fund are administered by the Arlyn Award Society, an independent, charitable-tax status society registered in British Columbia, Canada.
