Ahmadinejad condoles with Sleiman

lebanese shea cleric grand ayatollah mohammed hussein fadlallah

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expressed his condolences over Lebanese Shea cleric Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah’s passing.

In a message to Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, Ahmadinejad said, "The brilliant and valuable service of the honorable cleric for national unity and his perseverance with the resistance will live on in the history of Lebanon."

Grand Ayatollah Fadlallah died in Beirut’s Bahman hospital on Sunday while placed under intensive care for internal bleeding.

He was regarded as Hezbollah’s spiritual guide following its formation in 1982.

A vocal critic of the United States, Ayatollah Fadlallah used to slam US warmongering policies in the Middle East, particularly Washington’s alliance with Israel.

Born in Najaf, Iraq, Fadlallah studied Islamic sciences in Najaf before moving to Lebanon in 1952.
