Rostami wins triple gold medals at Junior World Weightlifting Championship
Kianoush Rostami claimed three gold medals here at the 36th Men’s World Junior Weightlifting Championship on Thursday night.
The Iranian 77 kg category lifted 160 kg in the snatch and 187 in the clean and jerk in a total of 347 kg. He scored three gold medals in the Men’s World Junior Weightlifting Championship.
“I am so happy to win three gold medals at the World Championship, but I am also disappointed since I could not set a record in the competitions,” Rostami said.
The Russian competitors Viktor Kharchenko and Albert Sayakhov came second and third lifting 331 and 330 kg respectively.
Kianoush Rostami in 77kg category, Saeid Mohammadpour in 94kg and Bahador Molaei in 105 kg make up the Iranian team participating in the competitions.
About 50 countries have participated in the 36th Men’s and 16th Women’s Junior World Weightlifting Championship which is underway in Universiade Sports Hall until June 20.
