Iranian Stage Actors Celebration honors artists
Iranian actors and actresses were honored at the Stage Actors Celebration on Saturday at Tehran’s City Theater Complex main hall which was attended by several prominent figures of Iran’s theater.
Hamid Azarang won the First Actor Prize for his acting in “The Dead” and “The Cool Finale of Memory”. The second prize went to Reza Behbudi for his role in “For a Fistful of Rubles” and Javad Namaki was awarded with the third prize for “Agamemnon” and “King Lear”.
Actress Gohar Kheirandish and stage director Manijeh Mahamedi handed prizes to the winners. Azarang went on stage with actor Ali Sarabi who was also honored for his part in “The Cool Finale of Memory” and made the award presentation to him.
Actors Enayat Bakhshi and Masud Raygan handed the Actress First Prize to Rima Raminfar for her acting in “Romulus the Great” and “An Stranger in the House”.
The second prize went to Pantea Panahiha for “Terminal” and Elham Pavenejad won the third prize for her role in “Horses at the Window”.
Actors Amir Joshaqani and Behzad Farahani were also honored for their activities in radio plays.
The stage was decorated with photos of recently deceased stage and cinema actors Hamideh Kheirabadi, Mahmud Banafshekhah, Kiumars Malekmotiei and Reza Karamrezaii.
Stage actress Farzaneh Kaboli played a musical piece in commemoration of the deceased artists. Participants honored the memory of deceased screen and stage actors with a one-minute silent prayer.
Actress Sorayya Qasemi read the World Theater’s message and actor Behzad Farahni appeared on stage to read poet Ahmadreza Ahmadi’s message for the Iran Theater Week Celebration.
Member of Stage Actors Association of Iran Theater Forum Kazem Hajir-Azad read the association’s statement in which they asked officials to offer facilities for theatrical performances and to eliminate personal interference in theater censorship.
Then the stamps with the pictures of stage actors Valiollah Shirandami, Parviz Bahram and actresses Mahin Shahabi and Farimah Farjami were unveiled at the ceremony.
Also attending the ceremony, veteran actor Ezzatollah Entezami spoke briefly about each of the honored artists and their contributions and also expressed hope for better days in Iranian theater.
The World Theater Day stamp was unveiled during a ceremony attended by two officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran Postal Service.
The Theater Week Celebration is organized by Iran’s Theater Forum. It opened in Tehran on April 26 and will last for one week in which different associations related to the Theater Forum will hold programs.
