Hi There

In this topic I want to write some sentences from the" 504 essential words" and discuss about them.

I think there are usefull points in every sentence that we can speak about those.

and now...

the first sentences:

• The soldier could not abandon his friends who were hurt in battle.

  When Terry discovered that he had been abandoned,* he let out an angry oath.

Instead of shrieking at each other, the students decided to have a debate on the topic.

evade get away from by trickery or cleverness

The prisoner of war evaded questioning by pretending to be sick.

probe search into; examine thoroughly; investigate

King Henry"s actions were carefully probed by the noblemen.

reform make better; improve by removing faults

Only laws that force companies to reform will clear the dangerous vapors from our air.

سلام دوستان عزیز و همراه
debate میشه مناظره یا مباحثه که توی اون دلایلی برا رد یا تایید یه موضوع آورده میشه.
shriek که میشه جیغ کشیدن و وقتی میخوایم بگیم جیغ زدن بر سر کسی میگیم shrieking at sb یعنی حرف اضافه اش میشه at. برا decide که بعدش فعل میاد باید to به کار برد یعنی تصمیم گرفتن که... و آخرین نکته جمله اول: وقتی debate یه اسم باشه و بخواهیم مثلا بگیم مناظره در مورد یه موضوع میگیم debate on sth
یعنی با حرف اضافه on.
evade با معنی سرباز زدن. فرار از یه چیزی با فریب و زرنگی.
prison میشه زندان و jail هم همین معنی رو میده و هردو ی این کلمات با er معنی زندانی رو میدن یعنی: prisoner و jailer.و آخرین نکته جمله دوم: pretend to be ... یه عبارت پرکاربرد هست به معنی تظاهر کردن به ...بودن. مثلا در همین جمله خودش رو به مریضی زد.
probe معنی جستجو و کاوش میده.
دقیقا معنی اون جمله اش رو نفهمیدم اگر دوستان کمک کنن: عملکردهای پادشاه هانری، به دقت توسط noblemen که میتونه نجیب زادگان معنی بده کاوش شد.
reform با معنی اصلاحات و ترمیم. میدونید که form میشه شکل دادن و پیشوند re معنی تکرار یه کار یعنی دوباره شکل دادن که همون معنی ترمیم و اصلاح رو خواهد داد.
مجبور کردن یه کسی به یه کاری میتونه زیاد به کار بره به این صورت: force sb to do sth.

میخوام برم سراغ درس بعدی.

هم نظری نمی دید در مورد کلمات و جملات و هم جمله های خودم. جمله هم که نمی سازید.

یه نکته: راجع به prisoner درست گفتین اما راجع به jailer نه. jailer یعنی زندانبان یعنی کسی از نگهبانی زندانی ها رو می کنه. به معنی انگلیسی لغات توجه کنین چون گاهی معنی فارسی دیکشنریها اشتباه تایپی داره.
یه لغت تازه: jailbird که یه لغت infromal هم هست تقریبا مترادف prisoner هست با این تفاوت که jailbird به معنای زندانی، جنایتکار میده یعنی مدت طولانی تری در زندانه و هر از چند گاهی هی میره زندان و بیرون میاد. یعنی تقریبا همون خلافکارا که رفت و آمد به زندان کارشونه.

اون جمله هم درست معنی کردین. عملکرد شاه هنری به دقت توسط نجیب زادگان مورد بررسی (تحقیق و تفحص) قرار گرفت.
