First Iranian made satellite launched into orbit
The first home made Iranian satellite, dubbed ‘Omid’ (Hope), successfully launched into orbit on Monday by a message from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
On the occassion of birth anniversary of Imam Musa Kazem, the seventh Imam of the Hazrat Mohammad’s infallible household and on the threshold of the 30th triumph anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, the first home made Iranian satellite, dubbed ‘Omid’ (Hope), successfully launched into orbit on Monday by a message from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Omid was launched by satellite-carrier rocket, Safir 2, which is also domestically designed and produced.
Omid is a light satellite which aims to exchange data and messages to and from the ground stations.
It rounds the Earth 15 times in 24 hours and in any round it will be controlled by equipments from the earth stations.
Safir 2 is an accurate and controllable Satellite-carrier which is able to launch light satellites beyond the atmosphere and set them into a predictable orbit.
All parts of the satellite and the satellite-carrier, its engine in particular with modern technology, are produced by the Iranian aerospace experts.
Omid satellite was unveiled at the present of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last year and satellite carrier Safir 1 was successfully test fired eight months ago.
