Iranian film to appear in 5 int'l filmfests

Angels Die in the Soil by Iran's renowned director Babak Amini will enjoy appearance in five international film festivals in Europe and Asia.

Angels Die in the Soil is scheduled to appear in Italy's 16th edition of Archipelago Film Festival and the 4th edition of EcoVision Festival 2008 as well as Portugal's 24th edition of Festroia Film Festival, Berlin's Kurdish Film Festival and the 9th Seoul Film Festival.

 

The film tells the story of an Iraqi-Kurdish girl who earns a living for herself and her ill father by selling the bones of Iranian soldiers martyred during the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-88.

 

One day, she stumbles on a terrorist incident involving an American soldier on her way back home, and decides to try to help him.

 

Babak Amini (b. 1978, Iranian Kurdistan) went to school in Tehran and graduated with a degree in philosophy. He worked for 10 years assisting director Bahman Ghobadi on A Time for Drunken Horses, Turtles Can Fly, and Half Moon.
