Malek Museum to display manuscript editions of Attar’s oeuvres
Manuscript and lithographical editions of the Persian classical poet Farid ad-Din Attar (c.1145-1221) will be displayed in an exhibition at Tehran’s Malek Museum from April 10 to 18.
The showcase is being organized to commemorate Attar National Day (April 13), museum curator Mahta Basafa said in a press release on Tuesday.
Twenty-five editions of Attar’s Divan, Asrar-Nama, Mantiq at-Tayr (Conference of the Birds), Mosibat-Nama, Elahi-Nama, Mokhtar-Nama, Khosrow-Nama, and Tadkerat al-Awliya will be put on display in the exhibit.
The books are unique for their calligraphy, illuminations, illustrations, and page design.
A large collection of extremely rare manuscript books is kept in the storerooms of the Malek Museum, which was originally a library. It is affiliated to the Astan-e Qods Museum of Mashhad.
