Supreme Leader urges Muslim leaders to thwart enemies plots
Tehran, January 09, 2007
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Monday drew attention of leaders of the Islamic states to help neutralize conspiracy of US and UK escalating sectarian sentiments between Shia and Sunni Muslims.
The Supreme Leader said on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Ghadir that the United States has failed in its war in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine and resorted to stir up sectarian violence in the Islamic states to reach its ominous goals.
Ayatollah Khamenei called on religious leaders and intellectuals to preach Islamic solidarity and reinforce brotherhood between Shia and Sunni Muslims.
The Supreme Leader said that the United States embarked on propaganda campaign against Iran since victory of the Islamic Revolution and assured leaders of the Islamic states that Iran's power would be in the service of the entire nations in the Persian Gulf region.
Ayatollah Khamenei advised the Arab leaders not to give concessions to the United States adding that the US administration is not trustworthy because it obeys Israel and supports Israeli crimes against Muslims in Palestine.
Elsewhere in his speech, the Supreme Leader cautioned the Arab leaders against forming alliance with the US and UK against Iran, because the two allies in the campaign against Muslims follow Israeli lead.
"Even though such an alliance takes shape, it will not work, because it would be an alliance against Islam," the Supreme Leader said.
On Iranian nation's resolve to enjoy the rights enshrined by Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the Supreme Leader said that Iran will not back down on its legitimate rights.
The Supreme Leader urged leaders of the Islamic states to reinforce solidarity among the Muslim nations and avoid getting involved in sectarian sentiments.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) introduced a unique personality, Imam Ali (AS), as his successor drawing a road map for future of the Muslims and the auspicious occasion indicates the fact that leaders of the Islamic nations should honor the principle of leadership for administering affairs of the entire Muslim nations.
The Arab states in the Persian Gulf would rely on Iran in a bid to thwart the threat posed to them by Israel, he added.
The Supreme Leader said that the Arab leaders would place confidence on Iran rather than giving concession to the US or the UK.
"Both US and the UK backed Iraqi dictator to invade Iran and provided him with numerous assistance but, they could not do a damn thing thanks to fierce resistance from Iranian nation during eight years imposed war," the Supreme Leader said.
