Quch-Soltan’s defensive operation (April 16th, 1981)
During Iranian limited attack in Shush, Iraqi forces simultaneously made an attack in Marivan local area,
Qoch Soltan heights, Qalanjan, Kani Chenareh and Hanibraneh.
Iraq aimed to recapture border heights, gain access to heights appropriate for defense, reinforce and support the anti-revolutionary forces and draw Iranian forces attention to northwest area. Resistance of friendly forces including a battalion of army's Kurdistan 28th infantry division and a number of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps volunteers under the supervision of 28th division headquarter aborted enemy's aims.
Result:
-following the violent resistance of Islam's army brave men, enemy's attack was repelled and Iraqi forces had to withdraw.
- Iraqis suffered 12 killed and 18 wounded in this attack.
