Tehran exhibits old Ta’zieh photos
Tehran’s Vahdat Hall has mounted an exhibition of old photographs depicting Persian Passion Play performances from 100 years ago in the Iranian capital.
The event is held as part of programs organized to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
“The exhibition displays more than 30 photographs from different historical periods,” Young Journalists Club quoted Vahdat Hall director Masoud Pakdel as saying.
The pictures have been exhibited for the first time and highlight the significance of Ta’zieh or Persian Passion Play in Iran, he added.
The Persian Passion Play is a ritual dramatic art that recounts religious events, historical and mythical stories and folk tales through poetry, music, song and motion.
The exhibition Ta’zieh photos kicked off on November 29 and will run until December 6, 2011.
