Leading neurologists from across the world have taken part in the First International Conference on Neurogenetics held in the Iranian capital of Tehran, Press TV reports.

The three-day event kicked off at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Hospital on Wednesday, November 23, with participants discussing various aspects of neurogenetics from basic research to translational medicine.

According to the secretary of the conference, Gholamreza Zamani, 10 international speakers along with Iranian doctors will discuss the latest updates in neurogenetics, including two new diseases.

President of the Iranian Neurogenetics Society Muhammad Hassan Kariminejad said despite the fact that the science of neurogenetics is nascent in Iran, it is progressing quite well.

Foreign participants in the conference include representatives from various institutions and universities of the Netherlands, Turkey, the United States, Canada, and Britain.

Fostering international collaboration and applying new discoveries to the understanding and treatment of neurogenetic disorders are the main goals of the conference.
