Italians celebrate premier’s resignation

Following the announcement of resignation of the Italian premier, Silvio Berlusconi, people of Italy poured into streets and celebrated his resignation.

According to IRIB World Service, the Italians on Saturday night gathered opposite to Italian Presidential Palace in Rome, and celebrated the Italian premier’s resignation, while urging his prosecution.

Prior to official resignation of the Italian premier, hundreds of Italian demonstrators staged a gathering next to the Italian Parliament, chanting slogans against Berlusconi, and demanding his immediate resignation.

The demonstrators had warned that if Berlusconi would not resign, they will not leave the streets.

The acceptance of the Italian administration’s economic austerity plan at the Italian Senate set the stage for resignation of the Berlusconi administration.
