Baghdad blasts kill 20, injure 60

security personnel, baghdad
A series of bomb explosions in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad have killed at least 20 people and wounded 60 others, including women and children, Press TV reports.

Iraqi police said two bombers attacked two separate police stations in the capital on Wednesday morning.

In the first attack, a bomber drove his explosives-laden car into the entrance of al-Elwiyah police station in Baghdad’s central district of Karrada.

The second attack took place when another bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into the checkpoint of a police station in Baghdad’s northwestern district of al-Hurriyah.

Elsewhere, a car bomb targeting a police patrol went off near the interior ministry in the capital’s southern district of Eilam.

No person or group has claimed responsibility for the bombings yet.

Official figures showed that at least 185 people were killed and 364 others wounded in September attacks across Iraq.

The figures come with just three months to go before about 50,000 US troops must withdraw from Iraq completely based on an agreement signed between Washington and Baghdad.
