US military budget %40 of global total

iran’s defense minister brigadier general ahmad vahidi

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says US military expenses account for 40 percent of military expenditure in the world.

”In other words… it (US military expenses) is six times more than China’s military budget, four times that of Russia and 98 times more than Iran,”‌ Vahidi said on Tuesday.

”US policy has always been based on war and warmongering, creating tension, sabotage, assassination and sowing discord,”‌ IRIB quoted the Iranian defense minister as saying.

The US House of Representatives approved a 649-billion-dollar military spending bill for the 2011 fiscal year on July 9. The approved bill excludes funds for US nuclear programs or military construction which will add another USD33 billion in later bills.

The US has increased its military spending by 81 percent since 2001, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

The US has reportedly spent over USD 1 trillion in taxpayer money on its wars in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001.

Vahidi went on to say that Iran’s defensive doctrine is, however, based on establishing security and expanding regional and international defensive cooperation.

The Iranian minister added that Iran pursues the doctrine of peace and security in the region, the most important principles of which are prevention of wars and defending vital resources.
