Bulgaria to stage Iranian puppet show
Bulgaria’s Golden Dolphin International Puppet Festival is set to stage Iranian director Maryam Moini’s Moon Pieces are Raining like Feathers in Varna.
The puppet show is based on The Happy Prince by Irish writer Oscar Wilde and focuses on the concept of forgiveness, Mehr News Agency reported.
Co-written by Moini and Tala Motazedi, the play has been staged in different Bulgarian festivals so far.
Ali Moini is the composer of the play and the puppets are designed by Iranian artist Mandana Karimi.
Organized by Bulgaria’s Ministry of Culture, Municipality of Varna and the State Puppet Theatre Varna, the 2011 edition of the Golden Dolphin International Puppet Festival will run from October 1 to 6.
The festival which was established in 1972 is held once in every three years and aims to help develop Bulgarian dramaturgy for Puppet Theater, to popularize the achievements of Bulgarian puppet artists and to introduce modern trends and the latest achievements of puppet art from all over the world.
