Iran troupe to perform at Italian festival

the all-female apple tree troupe has performed in numerous festivals around the globe.

Iran’s Apple Tree troupe is slated to perform a traditional Persian puppet play at Italy’s 2011 Arrivano dal Mare International Puppet and Figures Festival.

Led by Majid Giahchi, the troupe will present The Bald Hero in the historical city of Ravenna, ISNA reported.

“We were invited to a number of international festivals after our performance at Australia’s Adelaide Fringe Festival,” said Giahchi adding, “We decide to take part in Italy’s Arrivano dal Mare in spring and Argentina’s Al Sur International Puppet Festival in summer of 2011.”

The Bald Hero puppet show has participated in many international events and has won numerous awards including the Golden Mermaid award of Italy’s Dawn of Storytelling festival.

Bald hero is a traditional hand puppet who loves money and uses every trick to get more money with the help of his naughty assistant, Mobarak.

Apple Tree is an all-female troupe which combines Persian and English to better communicate with its international audience.

Iranian theater director Shahram Karami will also accompany the troupe in Italy to meet with Italian artists and organize joint projects with the European country’s puppeteers and stage artists.
