chinese teen sells kidney for ipad 2

A Chinese teenager from the country’s southeastern Anhui Province has sold his kidney for €2,059 in order to purchase an iPad 2 tablet.

The 17-year-old Xiao Zheng sold his right kidney after he came upon an internet advertisement for organ sales, MSNBC reported.

“When I surfed the internet I found an advert posted online by agent saying they were able to pay RMB20,000 ($3,085) to buy a kidney,” the boy said.

Xiao had his kidney removed at a local hospital in the city of Chenzhou in Hunan Province in exchange for $3,400.

His mother alerted the police after she found about the surgery and tried to contact the agents who had arranged the procedure but their phones were switched off.

The hospital, where the surgery was performed admitted contracting out its urology department to a private businessman, but denied any knowledge of the surgery.

Zheng’s mother hopes she will be able to find the criminals that disabled her son who is now suffering medical complications as a result of the surgery.
