Iranian stage play to go abroad

Iranian play Last Supper is set to be staged in Japan, Lithuania and Taiwan, after a successful performance at ASSITEJ International Theater Festival in Denmark.

Directed by Ahmad Soleymani, the play has been requested by Lithuania’s representative at ASSITEJ International Theater to be staged there.

The play has also been invited to the 2012 edition of Okinawa Theater Festival in Japan, titled “War and Life,” to be held in September.

Taiwan has also called for the play to be staged in its annual theater festival.

Performed by Iran’s Eede Theater Group in many countries, the play features a blending of comedy and tragedy.

Majid Amiri, Hamid Lajvardi, Mashaallah Kouhestani, Javad Pirouzi and Mehdi Nikravesh are the performers of the play.

Written by Amir-Reza Kouhestani, Last supper is the only Iranian play in Denmark’s ASSITEJ Festival.

The 17th edition of ASSITEJ International Theater Festival began on May 20 and finish on May 29.
