Italian seeks to buy Iranian relic
An Italian collector has offered to purchase the world’s smallest ring which has been on display in at an exhibition in the Iranian province of Zanjan.
The bronze ring was unveiled in an exhibition held to mark Iran’s Cultural Heritage Week at Zanjan’s Historical and Natural History Treasure Museum.
Museum director Morteza Samimifard told CHTN that he did not intend to sell the ring, adding that “keeping and exhibiting the relic at the Zanjan museum is very valued.”
The 2,200-year-old ring is seven millimeters thick and dates back to the Parthian era.
It was purchased from a collector a year ago and will be returned to the Zanjan Province treasury after being displayed at the museum for a week.
Experts are still trying to read the inscription on the ring which seems to have belonged to an aristocrat.
The relic has not been priced yet and there is no information about its original whereabouts.
