Two Iranian short films “Raw, Cooked, Burned” and “Askoo” won two awards at the Shaken Stars Film Festival in Almaty on Sunday.
Directed by Shahram Mokri, “Raw, Cooked, Burned”, which tells the story of a 40-year-old man who always thinks about his lost opportunities, was honored with the best short film award in the short fiction films section, Persian news outlets reported on Monday.
Meanwhile, director Muhammad-Ali Hashemzehi’s “Askoo”, which is about an old cameleer and one of his camels named Askoo, won the best short film award in the short documentary films section.
The Shaken Stars Film Festival is a Kazakh international event, which is dedicated to young filmmakers and first-film directors.
The festival was established in 2003 to honor Shaken Aimanov (1914-1970), Kazakh actor and director, who is considered the father of Kazakh cinematography.
