Vivaldi commemorated in Tehran

The Bokhara literary magazine honored the Italian Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi during its 76 sessions in Tehran.

Sponsored by the Embassy of Italy in Tehran, the session was held at the Pietro Della Valle Italian School in Tehran on Monday.

At the session, the Italian music expert, Luciana Ipiliti, gave a brief introduction of Vivaldi and of the influence the city of Venice has played in the history of art.

He said that Venice was the inspirational source, not only for painting and poetry, but also for music throughout history.

Ipiliti also talked about Vivaldi’s masterpiece “Le quattro stagioni” (The Four Seasons) and its composition.

The Italian musician Alberto Beradanini also mentioned a brief biography of Vivaldi and his achievements in the world of music.

At the end of the event, Iranian guitarists, Kaveh Afshar and Neda Samavati, perform three pieces based on “The Four Seasons”.

Tar virtuoso Keyvan Saket also performed “Allegro” which he composed for the tar. His performance was accompanied by Behnam Abolqasem, who played piano.

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (1678 –1741) was an Italian Baroque composer, priest, and virtuoso violinist, born in Venice. Vivaldi is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers and his influence over his lifetime was widespread throughout Europe.

Vivaldi is known mainly for composing instrumental concertos, especially for the violin, as well as sacred choral works and over 40 operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as “The Four Seasons”.
