Iranian scientist wins WHO prize
An Iranian scientist has been awarded a WHO prize for his research in fighting diabetes in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO).
Baqer Larijani, dean of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute, received the prize from the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Iranian dialectologist won the $300,000 prize along with Omani scientist Ali Jafar Mohammad, who conducted research in the field of cancer, according to an article released in Al-Watan.
The two scientists will receive the prize awarded to pioneers in fighting cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes in EMRO in the opening ceremony of the 57th Annual Meeting of WHO held in Cairo, Egypt on October 3.
