Georgian film festival to hold Abbas Kiarostami retrospective
The 5th Batumi International Art-House Film Festival will be holding a retrospective of the celebrated Iranian auteur Abbas Kirostami.
The event is scheduled to open today with Kirostami’s “Certified Copy” starring Juliette Binoche, the festival organizers announced on their website.
“Close Up”, “ABC Africa” and a number of his videos will be screened during the retrospective.
A number of other Iranian films will be competing in various sections of the festival, which runs until September 19.
“There Are Things You Don’t Know” by director Fardin Zamani will be screened at the competition section.
“On Losing the Train of My Thoughts” by Raha Razavi is competing in the Young Filmmakers’ Competition Section
Feature “Gold and Copper” by Homayun Asadian, “Running Among the Clouds” by Amin Farajpur “Film School of Hossein Sabzian” by Azadeh Akhlaqi, “Once Upon a Time in Marrakesh” by Seifollah Samadian and “Ghazaleh Alizadeh” by Pegah Ahangarani will be shown in the Silk Road Section of the festival.
