Rare copy of Nahj-ul-Balagha unveiled in Tehran
A rare copy of one of the oldest versions of the Nahj-ul-Balagha of Imam Ali (AS) was unveiled on Sunday during a ceremony at the Iran National Library and Archive (INLA).
The book dating back to 1127 was inscribed by Muhammad ibn Abi al-Qasem ibn Musa ibn Khalil, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Sunday.
Nahj-ul-Balagha was first compiled by Sharif Radi known in Persian as Seyyed Razi, who divided the work into three sections containing the speeches, letters, and short sayings of Imam Ali (AS).
The ceremony took place in the presence of INLA director Ali-Akbar Ash’ari and the director of Nahj-ul-Balagha Foundation Ayatollah Jamaleddin Dinparvar.
Ash’ari regarded the copy as one of the most complete versions. “Although it is not the oldest version, it is a copy with an exact date of inscription.”
He also expressed hope that the library can expand its collaboration with the Nahj-ul-Balagha Foundation.
Ayatollah Dinparvar also said that after Seyyed Razi compiled the first copy of the book, later scholars have maintained his style in compiling subsequent editions. “Moreover, others need to dedicate their time to continue this process.”
