Iran is set to hold the first International Seminar on English Language Teaching of the Islamic World, hosting Muslim scholars in the capital city of Tehran.

“English teaching experts from Pakistan, Malaysia, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, Egypt, Bangladesh and other Muslim countries will take part in the three-day event,” seminar director Seyyed Ziaeddin Tajeddin told.

“Training English teachers, preparing educational materials, teaching English to children and adults, globalization and localization in English teaching, and English language for academic purposes are among the topics, which will be discussed during the seminar,” he added.

A total of 48 articles will be presented at the event, 35 of which belong to Iranian scholars.

Professor Emeritus Dan Douglas of Iowa State University, Gabriele Kasper of the University of Hawaii, and Brian Tomlinson of Leeds Metropolitan University have also been invited to deliver lectures,” Tajeddin announced.

Various workshops and an exhibition of books published by the Iran Language Institute will also be held on the sidelines of the event.

The International Seminar on English Language Teaching of the Islamic World will open on Dec. 1, 2010 at the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA).
